Sound Question

Sound Question

Postby PDT4236 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 4:41 pm

Hello folks,

First, let me say I love this product - and for it to be freeware is much appreciated. Thank you to the developers for, no doubt, hours of work.

Second, I have a question (or maybe two)! Any help is appreciated.

1) I was wondering if it is possible to use the sound files for other Dash 8's (ie: Dreamwings Dash 8 etc). When I copy the sound file from Dash8-Q300_2 (with all of the subfolders included), and move it to a new aircraft, it doesn't seem to work. Even more interesting, if I open the sound.cfg file, there are only a few entries (none of which seem to mention rpm / engine sounds?)

2) I'm using FSX now, and was curious if there is an FSX version of the panel? sounds?

Thanks!

PS: I have a friend who used portions of this panel for his type rating training on the DHC8 - that's how good it is!

Funny, I have a friend who did the same thing.

I do not see why using the other sounds would be a problem.

Yeah...I just wish I could figure out how to get the sounds to work. I copy over the sound.cfg and everything, but nothing plays when I load the Fanda Dash 8 sounds into another a/c?

You can't use the sounds on their own as the files are not Flight Simulator sounds - they are controlled via the panel using DirectSound. If you were to use the panel in your other aircraft, you could then use the sounds, but they won't work without the panel. You mentioned the Dreamwings - have a look around on the internet - there's a merge for the panel and sound for that particular aircraft. As for an FSX version of the Fanda, there isn't one, so you best bet would just be to try the Fanda in FSX, but I don't imagine it would work without some aircraft.cfg tweaks.
